In 2026, iPhones generally retain more resale value than Samsung Galaxy phones. Samsung, however, offers a wider range of devices, giving wholesalers more opportunities to serve customers with different needs and budgets.

For B2B buyers, the best choice depends on the specific model, device condition, supplier reliability, and local market demand.

iPhone vs Samsung Resale Value: What Do the Statistics Show?

Recent US secondary-market data highlights differences in resale value retention between selected iPhone and Samsung models.

Smartphone model	Approximate value retained
iPhone 16	66%
iPhone 15	48%
Samsung Galaxy S25	53%
Samsung Galaxy S24	40%

The figures suggest that selected iPhone models retain a larger share of their original value than the Samsung models shown. However, resale performance varies by model, condition, and market.

For wholesalers, these statistics are a useful starting point, but actual purchasing decisions should also consider supplier terms and the expected selling price in the target market.

Why Do iPhones Hold Their Wholesale Value Better?

Apple benefits from strong brand recognition, an established ecosystem, and continued demand for previous-generation devices. Many customers prefer older iPhones because they offer familiar features without requiring an upgrade to the latest model.

For iphone wholesalers, the iPhone 13, 14, 15, and 16 generations are worth evaluating for resale potential.

Battery health, storage capacity, cosmetic condition, and activation status all influence buyer interest. Purchasing popular models at competitive acquisition costs can help businesses manage depreciation and maintain healthier margins.

However, strong demand does not guarantee profit. Wholesalers still need to avoid overpaying and account for changing market conditions.

Are Wholesale Samsung Phones a Good Investment?

Yes, Wholesale Samsung phones can be a practical option for businesses targeting multiple customer segments.

Samsung's Galaxy lineup includes flagship S-series devices, foldable Z-series phones, and more affordable A-series models. This variety allows wholesalers to serve premium buyers as well as customers looking for budget-friendly smartphones.

Older Galaxy models and selected midrange devices may offer worthwhile sourcing opportunities. The key is to assess demand for each model instead of assuming every device will sell quickly.

For B2B resellers, a carefully selected Samsung inventory can complement an iPhone-focused strategy and help reach a broader customer base.

How Does Device Condition Affect Wholesale Smartphone Value?

Device condition plays a major role in how easily a smartphone can be resold. Even popular iPhones and Samsung phones may lose buyer interest if they have damaged screens, poor battery health, or unresolved technical issues.

Before purchasing refurbished smartphones in bulk, wholesalers should check:

Battery health and charging performance.
Screen condition, cameras, speakers, and connectivity.
Cosmetic grading and repair history.
IMEI status and network compatibility.
Activation Lock or other account restrictions.

Clear grading standards help businesses set accurate expectations, reduce disputes, and build trust with retail buyers.

Refurbished smartphones can create attractive resale opportunities, but quality verification and transparent supplier documentation remain essential.

What Wholesale Smartphone Trends Should Businesses Watch in 2026?

The secondary smartphone market gives businesses opportunities to serve customers who prefer refurbished or previous-generation devices over new models.

For wholesalers, this creates a need for smarter inventory planning. Demand can vary by brand, model, storage capacity, and region; new product launches can affect the appeal of older devices.

Businesses sourcing iPhones, Samsung phones, and other wholesale smartphones should regularly review customer preferences, supplier availability, and sales performance.

Rather than purchasing large quantities based on assumptions, wholesalers can test demand with manageable batches and expand inventory based on actual results.

How Can Wholesalers Improve Smartphone Profit Margins?

A successful wholesale strategy starts with understanding the complete cost of acquiring and reselling each device.

Here are five practical ways to improve purchasing decisions:

Compare suppliers: Review multiple offers, product grades, and purchasing terms.
Calculate total costs: Account for shipping, taxes, customs duties, testing, and refurbishment where applicable.
Check market demand: Use recent completed sales rather than relying only on advertised listings.
Monitor inventory turnover: Avoid holding devices for too long as demand changes.
Verify device quality: Inspect stock before committing to larger orders whenever possible.

The goal is to choose devices that balance resale demand, quality, and acquisition costs rather than focusing on brand reputation alone.

How Can a B2B Marketplace Simplify Smartphone Sourcing?

Finding reliable suppliers is an important part of running a wholesale electronics business. B2B marketplaces can help buyers explore supplier relationships, compare offers, and discuss bulk purchasing requirements.

For businesses sourcing wholesale smartphones, refurbished iPhones, or wholesale Samsung phones, supplier verification and clear product specifications are essential.

Final Verdict: iPhone or Samsung for Wholesale in 2026?

iPhones generally offer stronger resale value retention, while Samsung provides greater variety across customer segments. Neither brand guarantees better wholesale results in every market.

For wholesalers, the best approach is to evaluate individual models, verify device quality, understand local demand, and negotiate competitive purchasing terms.

Businesses that combine careful sourcing with reliable inventory management can build a more sustainable resale strategy.
